Mud Room Part 2

I didn't even get a chance to relax and enjoy mud room part 1 before tasked with part 2.  This will be a bigger project but I'm off and running.  I usually face cabinets before installing but thought I would try it after this time.  We'll see how that works out.

Natural Edge Bowls

This lathe is more fun than I thought it would be.  I made a couple natural edge bowls today just to see if I could.

Step 1 - Find an unsuspecting log (no (living)trees were harmed in the making of these bowls)

Step 2 - Cut off a big chunk

Step 3 - Try to maintain patience as bark and water smack you in the face.

Step 4 - Make a big pile of dust and shavings

Step 5 - Done

Little Turned Box

This little box serves no real purpose but I wanted to try it.  It was made out of oak with my lathe.

Toy Wooden Skid Loader

I made this skid loader as a birthday present for a soon to be 4 year old we know.  Wood Magazine is going to have the plans for it next month so I had to wing it from a very small picture.  It was a rush job but it turned out pretty good.  It's made from maple and walnut with a boiled linseed oil finish.
