Weekend honey-do list
I have a never ending 'this is what you must do next' list. This weekend #1 on that list was moved to #4 to make room for a plate holder, stenciled sign, and Christmas tree stump.
This log is straight from the woods, cut from a downed tree. I hope whatever bugs are living in it stay there.

Trash to more trash
I picked up a bunch of shutter/door things during a Craigslist lumber run this weekend. This one happened to match our shower curtain perfectly. I couldn't be more excited.

Kitchen Ipad Holder
Miranda seen this on one of the blogs she reads. This is made from pallet wood. I think it's Oak. All the build supplies were free minus about 25 cents worth of Walnut oil to finish. Pottery barn sells these for 35 bucks.
This hinge is off the old Sellers cabinet.

Rolling pin
I made this rolling pin for mom. I didn't see the big knot when I started, but I guess it's fine now as this will most likely be for display purposes. The wood is oak and purple heart.

Another Harry Potter wand
Here's another Harry Potter wand I made for my niece Claudia. I tried to copy the wand used by Bellatrix. In total I've seen about 12 seconds of Harry Potter. This was simply an accident when flipping through channels. Turns out I picked one of the more evil characters to replicate.
Made from walnut, stained with dark walnut, and finished with lacquer. This was also my first, angled, round mortise and tenon. It turned out ok.

Natural edge coasters
There's a big Oak tree across the hiking trail behind our house. Avery and I cut off part of a limb and I made some coasters.
My new chop saw is so fun to use. I went a little crazy...

Harry Potter wand
While visiting PA I asked my nieces what they wanted me to make them for their birthday. A Harry Potter wand was the first thing that came to mind. I'm not sure if this resembles anything from the movies, but it's kinda what I remember from the Google searches performed on vacation. It's not supposed to look perfect. A few dings, bends, and imperfections give it character.
Hope you like it Morgan!

I wish I knew what spell was being cast here...
The wand was made from 100% stuff in the woods behind the house. The wand part is walnut and the handle is a honeysuckle branch. The finish is lacquer (not good for 9 month old biters to chew on). Below is the wand before turning.

Bird house from garbage
The girls and I built a bird house from left over deck rail sleeves and a couple screws.
Here is the build crew.
