Cigar pens

Here's a new style pen I made called cigar pens.  They look a lot more professional than the cheaper slimline version I've been making.  These are for a few employees at work.

Sandpaper organizer

This is a much needed addition to my shop.  It's a mutt build in that I used a bunch of random types of wood.  It's part white oak, red oak, walnut, poplar, and maple.

Sofa table

I built this sofa table completely from 2x6 framing lumber.  I did my steel wool/vinegar mix on the top to 'age' it.  The bottom is black milk paint.  For some reason these pictures make the bottom look dark gray... it's not.

Phone stand

I thought this piece of maple looked pretty cool so decided I would make a phone stand out of it.  I wanted a glass smooth high gloss finish on this.  Started with poly but when polishing I just couldn't get it to shine.  I switched to lacquer and got the look I want.  The pictures don't do it justice but this is feels and looks like glass.  There's probably an hour of post-lacquer sanding and polishing on this little piece.

Weekend honey-do list

I have a never ending 'this is what you must do next' list.  This weekend #1 on that list was moved to #4 to make room for a plate holder, stenciled sign, and Christmas tree stump.

This log is straight from the woods, cut from a downed tree.  I hope whatever bugs are living in it stay there.

Kitchen coffee station turned something else

I finally finished the kitchen coffee station that I got suckered into making.  I say that because I was hoping for a manly coffee station but ended up with just more real estate for doilies, plastic fruit and antique glassware.

I'm told I shouldn't post this yet because it's not properly decorated.  I'm not sure what that means.

Kinda creepy if you ask me.

I was not looking forward to painting the top of this beast.  Fortunately for me some jammy wearing crazy lady showed up and offered to paint.  We fed her dinner and off she went.

Thanks Mom!!!!

Lazy or genius - installment 3

Here's part 3 of what may or may not be a 3 part series.... power tool pumpkin carving.

Trash to more trash

I picked up a bunch of shutter/door things during a Craigslist lumber run this weekend.  This one happened to match our shower curtain perfectly.  I couldn't be more excited.

Kitchen hutch almost done

Here's the kitchen hutch that has been consuming most of my time recently.  It still needs doors and knobs but it's far enough to get out of my shop.  This is mostly solid Red Oak.  The top is about 2" think and it's a beast.  The center section is wine bottle storage.

Lazy or genius - installment 2

This is part 2 of what may or may not be a 2 part series.

That's right, I pressure washed the shower, genius!!  This was a 'before' pic, don't judge.

Rustic van door trim

In our house we're usually followers of the 'you make a mess, you clean it up' rule.  That's a lie, it's actually the 'wait it out until mom gets annoyed and cleans it for us' rule.  However if that doesn't work, rule one is usually followed.

A couple days ago my lovely wife made a mess.  She smacked the side of the garage with the van door and ripped off a piece of door trim.  As she does so many times for us, I decided to step up and clean the mess for her.

Knowing how much she likes pallet crafts and the rustic look, I decided to incorporate that into the van.  I love it!  Kind of reminds of the classic 'woody' station wagons.
