We had some bedroom furniture in storage while we were in the rental. Once moved I started unloading the unit and discovered that we had some water damage. One of the dressers had a moldy, cracked top and some water damage on the back and bottom. It's been sitting in the garage while we decided what to do with it. In my quest to clean up the garage I chose to move it to my workshop as I could use the 'benchtop' space. It actually works very well for both a tool stand and storage. The drawers are great for storing and organizing those extra parts you never use that come with tools, like anything safety related.

Painted cabinet
I didn't make this piece but I did a heck of a job painting it. It was spray painted and has 2 coats of water based poly on the top. I would have never picked this color but I gotta admit it's kinda cool. Now we just need to fill the rest of the office.

Let there be light
My shop really needed some more light. The two single bulbs just weren't cutting it. I stopped by Home Depot and got some of their least finest shop lights. It has made a huge difference.

New Plane
I've been needing a new block plane for a while to put some finishing touches on various things. My old one was quite worthless and the blade looked like someone was planing the driveway. I pulled the trigger and bought a fairly decent Wood River low angle plane.
It works!!

Out of retirement
I built this desk when I was around 15. It's been in the folks attic for many years. Now that we have a house with lots of storage I was forced to take it off their hands. We didn't know what to do with it since no one needs a desk you can't put a computer on. I set it up in the shop. I figure it can hold build plans or something.

Drill press stand
Many of my tools are in need of a home. Most are still sitting on the basement floor. I decided to start with my drill press. Like most other recent projects, this one is kind of a mutt. It's made from pine, plywood, and mdf. There are a few firsts for me on this one such as flush mounted drawer fronts and a raised panel door.
Start of the carcass.
Drawers
Drawer fronts
Home made drawer handles
Done! Yeah, the hinges look terrible and I was very lazy to just slap them on. However, if I would have mortised some hinges before doing the ones on Miranda's cabinet I would have never heard the end of it.

Even Bigger Shelf
I wasn't sure what to do with this strange corner of the garage. A big shelf seemed like the obvious answer.

Big Shelf
I now have a much needed big shelf in my shop. It could stand to have a few more shelves, but I can always add those later.

Upgraded garage cabinet
I built a framed pegboard hanger for the garage french cleat system. After hanging it I realized I was quickly running out of wall space. I then noticed it looked the same size as the shelf I made. I held them next to each other and the pegboard frame was only about 1/16 wider than the shelf, good enough for garage work. I ended up making a shelved door for the existing shelf with the pegboard panel as the door front.

More walls
I've never seen it done before, but the builder put a light switch on our furnace that can turn off the AC and furnace. It's the perfect height for Drew. It looks like it was made for him. Well, he certainly likes to play with it and we've found our AC turned off many times. Well instead of putting duct tape over it I decided to wall in all the HVAC stuff.
